belmoma stakes

this week's Ney York magazine features not one, but two articles on
architecture, all of it somehow actually in the city. One is a brief about
Staten Island boro pres Guy Molinari stumping for a ferry terminal (on the
SI side; the articles outlines the demise of VSMAs Big Clock) and museum by
Eisenman (!) [rumor has it that in a quid pro quo arrangement, Molinari
will introduce a bill requiring execution for architects who don't read ANY
magazine]. Can PE have really stooped so low? (can you imagine the meetings
between the two?) The article does point out that that it will be the most
'extreme' public commission in NYC history, so maybe thars gold in them
there kills.

unless of course this is just really timely pr; the other article
handicapped the likely finalists for the MOMAs expansion. As far as I can
tell, the early odds on faves are Holl, Koolhaas and Vinoly (with Ito or
Perrault coming up on the outside). Pretty equivocal all in all, but at
least realistic in approaching the situation as having almost no bearing on
designing or talent. Maybe design-l should start a betting pool. howard?
