Re: Virtual Studios

Unintended consequences for virtual studios/offices come
from overloaded systems -- power (regional, local, site, space,
machine), cpu, I/O cards, monitors, cables, I/O peripherals,
distribution -- and the static, misfires and 404s that scarify
the multiple permutations and maliterations of an intended design.

Outages give a distinctive coloration -- Virginal apparation, say --
to schedules, promises, contracts, penalties, accusations,
excuses for God's playful intercession in human calculation.
Neighborhoods shutdown, workers get a break, eyes brighten,
thank you lord for charrette blowup. Everyone off the treadmill
for a while, pink replaces sallow, guts deacidify, tics vanish.

Hurricanes are even better, but not as eagerly begged as a
terrorist attack, which really upsets the disorderly habits of
not delivering 100% of the promise, not receiving 100% of the
pay.

Millennial prayers for legacy electrical blackout -- now inexplicable
computer crashes -- make the atmosphere hum with aspiratives
sent to any listening god, please, an act of god, Zeus-bolt this
workstations, flood the plotter, botulin the 24-hr chinese.

Linemen sometimes get so pissed at their workload and haranguing
bosses that they grab two ends of a bare 600 volt cable, whisper to
the two-way radio, "ready, hit the switch," to escape meeting targets
send down from HQ, like grunts shoot feet.

Most actually survive, and are revived by the pass through, hair
curled, tan, purged of demon urges, get two weeks off on sick leave.

CAD jocks and jills window the whole godawful, hit copy, copy, copy,
hold the key down until local, office and offsite storage is over-maxed,
then send the mess to all output devices, bulletin boards, file sharing
locations,
The Blobbing up every connection, router, node, transcontinental cable,
sat link. Lean back, wait for the local initiated act of god to hit, to last
out the lights.

Making virtual studios/offices go haywire, to cause system wide
overloads to back up the line to transregional grids, to tripswitch the
nuke plants, to jam tons of virtual salmon in hydroelectric plumes, to
make lightning go AC-backwards, to cattle prod langorous gods
needing acts of miscreant humans to crash eternal perfection, now
that would be worth spending time straightjacketed to a CAD box
so diligently that two weeks in a solitary cell was sentenced for
idle daydreaming.
