artificial light

for example, the following is the website of
the company that sent an experimental 'space
mirror' that failed to deploy correctly.. if
it worked, it supposedly would have sent a
reflected shaft of light down to earth in
the night sky, and would become a technology
for artificially illuminating areas of the
Earth without sunlight for large portions
of the year, such as Alaska and Siberia.

now, i imagine it is still true that the
schools (and practice) still regard 'sun'
light as a key ingrediant to understanding
things such as how form is perceived with
subtle shade and shadow. electrical lighting
is still experimental, but what of this new
type of lighting. does it not throw, literally,
a new reality of what 'light' is, how it is,
how it behaves, another detournment of nature-
a new paradigm.. if it works, will it usher in
the new nature of cloned animals and nanotech
machines and quantum computers and buildings
whose skins are literally alive.. is anyone
interested in the architectural fictions of
SciFi, are there any authors who are inventive
with future architectures for these new natures?
