earthquake in Italy

Following up on the Earthquake thread, there is an historic novel out now
titled "Pompeii". It is about a civil engineer (his title is "Aquarian") who is
sent to Pompeii just prior to the great historic eruption. His mission is to
find and repair a break in the great aquaduct which began above Pompeii and
threaded its way through the base of Vesuvius and then on to Herculaneum and
several other towns around the Bay of Naples. It is not great literature but it is
a good read with interesting descriptions of Roman houses, towns and life, not
to mention civil engineering.
