First, it's doubtful that Howard, or his computer, actually sent this,
as it's a Bagle virus/worm variant, which is of the type that randomly
picks both From and To addresses from the files on the infected
computer's hard drive (not limited to the address book). It appears to
have been sent from within unm.edu, from a dynamically assigned IP
through one of their DHCP servers.

So I hope nobody opened that attachment, even if somebody must have
recently opened one in order to become infected.

Anyone running Windows should scan their systems for viruses, and please
install (and keep current) some AV software. Since the extreme
proliferation and virus "wars" which started some weeks ago, my AV has
been getting anywhere for 50 - 150+ new definitions a day, which is
really off the scale. Most of these recent worms require someone to
manually open and run the programs to get infected, so don't do it! Keep
in mind that a couple very recent viruses attempt to use exploits which
are now several years old, so if anyone is using an older, unpatched
version of Outlook Express, please update it.
