In 1990, when a German cousin and her boyfriend were
visiting me, they were shocked when I drove them through the
cemetery where my father is buried. Apparently, it is taboo,
if not outright forbidden, to drive an automobile through
German cemeteries. The young couple actually treated the
event as something they never in their life expected to.
