"The Museum of Modern Art reopens in Manhattan on Nov. 20. Transformed by a $650 million expansion that more than doubles its exhibition space and creates a completely new streetscape, the addition, designed by the little-known Japanese architect Yoshio Taniguchi, is a black-and-white composition of austere geometric spaces, providing a cool, minimalist container for a collection that reaches from the 1880s to contemporary painting, photography, sculpture, architecture and design. Will the renovated MoMA become a new midtown landmark, or will it seem chilly, flat and forbidding? Decide for yourself."
