The best reading I have seen of heidegger's interventtion with Wagner is
the chapter in Philippe Lacoue-Labarthe __Musica Ficta__ working with the
two decisive moments in philosophy: Plato's banishment of the musicians
>from the Republic and Nietzsche's break with Wagner.
It's worth a look.
