FISEA BULLETIN!!!

FISEA 93 * THE MEETING OF SOUL AND MACHINE * FISEA 93
=================================================================

NOVEMBER 3-7, 1993; Fourth International Symposium On Electronic
Art: THE ART FACTOR, Minneapolis, USA.

Cyberspace yields to sacred space in this year's electronic inter
national. Brenda Laurel treads where angels fear by addressing
the "The Soul and the Machine: Artists and Technologists in
Collaboration". Expect this subject to explode at FISEA 93 with
"COLLABORATION" emerging as a transforming frontier.

Look for cliches to crunch and crash during two days of papers
and panels. Expect some long held assumptions about art to wilt
in a fully extravagant day of innovative "projects and applicat-
ions". Sanctuaries for machine-soul encounters include the Walker
Art Center (electronic theater), the U of M's Tedd Mann Concert
Hall (live performance), and the MCAD Gallery (art show). Applic-
ations include artificial life, virtual reality, automata, net-
working, body and sound arts. Watch for some old votive lights
to fade at this Fourth International in Minneapolis. Attend this
growing "ecclesia" and experience transforming hyperspace with
your own eyes and ears!

FISEA 93 * "ART" LEVEES OOZE IN PATH OF SYMPOSIUM * FISEA 93

NOVEMBER 3-7, 1993; Fourth International Symposium On Electronic
Art, Minneapolis, USA.

This year's theme, "the art factor", brings refreshing critical
assessment to new media arts both in theory and practice. Expect
Jan Hoet's challenge at Documenta IX to gather momentum following
his opening address "Art & Tech - Paradox or Challenge. . ." Two
days of gourmet papers and panels promise to fuel the challenge.
Sanctuaries to be invaded include the Walker Art Center (electr-
onic theater), the U of M's Tedd Mann Concert Hall (live perform-
ance), and the MCAD Gallery (art show). Applications include art-
ificial life, virtual reality, automata, networking, body and
sound arts. Watch for some sand-bagged "art" levees to give way
at this Fourth International in Minneapolis. Attend this growing
"ecclesia" and experience hyperspace with your own eyes and ears!
