I recently went to MOMA and can say with full confidence that THIS
Wright exhibit is simply AWE inspiring. I have been to several exhibits
in the past including a very good show in Japan, but this is by FAR the
best. There are approximately 300 projects represented with full scale
portions of buildings (eg. The Imperial hotel) and various Wright designed
wall systems (Including the "Usonian Automatic" and CMU systems.) Also,
incredible effort was spent creating highly detailed computer models
of several unbuilt designs (eg. San Marcos in the desert resort) from which
laser cut models were constructed. (The chicago beer garden is also modeled)
Original wright plaster/wood models are there (Including the giant
Broadacre city model, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc. It took me 4 hours to
get through the exhibit, and I left MOMA with an incredible collection
of new insight into Wright's genius, and ideas for future exploration.
