WANTED: artists to contribute to the cybercafe virtual gallery.
ALSO, scanning facilities and temporary storage space for work prior to
being uploaded.
ALSO, physical gallery and public spaces to house the touring exhibition
from the beginning of next year.

For those of you who do not already know, this is a new and exciting
project. A UK touring virtual art gallery, visiting cafes', galleries, art
spaces and any other public spaces that will have it. Many galleries and
public spaces nationwide are already interested in housing the gallery
within the context of a touring exhibition programme, its attraction being
a conceptual tension between a virtual viewing experience and a space
designed for a physical one. Artists of diverse disciplines - digital or
otherwise - are invited to exhibit work. We are at the moment compiling a
database of gallery spaces and artists wishing to be involved. Artists can
paste their work into the gallery by arrangement with me any time, but it
is anticipated that the gallery will not tour before January (once funding
is in place).

We are particularly interested in non-technical artists who would like to
be introduced to the digital domain.
One of the issues that this project will address is the exclusion of such
artists from the agenda of arts and technology, so it's likely that we will
set up dialogues between artists and technicians, the results of which will
added to the gallery.

Joint works between international computer artists would be nice, and we
can put artists in touch with each other if so desired.

Cybercafe will provide exposure for existing digital arts
practictitioners, and examine new possibilites for craft-based artists
through global communications technology, and also has the potential to act
as a forum to explore the way this technology is revolutionising artistic
practice world wide.

For more specific information contact Caroline Parsons (071 794 1748).
