.....36,000 chicks die after missing flight

EGYPT: August 9, 2004
CAIRO - Thirty-six thousand Egyptian chicks paid with their lives today after they missed a flight connection in the Kenyan capital Nairobi.
The new-born chicks had been flown to Kenya to catch an onward flight to the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa but the Lufthansa plane arrived in Nairobi too late. They had to be flown back to Cairo but by the time they arrived many had died.
The whole shipment ended up in the Cairo airport incinerator.
