Re: [design] WTC Begets London

Oops, the URL should have had a sub-directory. This works:

Since posting, I've read a NYT critique of Net postings of
London photos, claiming that most of them are recycled
news images, many of TV screenshots. The writer bitches
that the Net is living up to its promise to beat the MTM
with novel material.

At least the NYT gave the beat-up-on-the-bloggers space
in lieu of more substantive news, indicating a slow day on
43rd Street when the ads need as much dimbulb filler as
possible to sooth the eye-candyers who are repulsed by
the bloody news.

The NYT has become a giant pig of ads, slip-ins, special
advertising sections (the magazine the worst offender for
these), and industry advertising pretending to be news,
with more business news in the culture sections than
in the business section -- movie profits are the leading
stories in arts and leisure, right next to blockbuster
art auctions.

All news now has a business component, usually the
largest storyline section, as if that kind of evening-news
pantheistic vacuity is what consumers deserve to get if
they believe there is no cost beyond tithe for attending
church, temple, museum, excitingly dense urban living.

Heh, we're outsourcing for a red hot housing architect who
meets serially with lustful clients competing with one
another, sometimes for the same property, sometimes
for those on adjoining blocks. Each is led to believe there
chicanery is secret, but all are hyper-paranoid about being
screwed by banks, lawyers, designers, as well as employees
and ex-lovers and -employees.

Tis nice to see an architect make out like a bandit pretending
absolute secrecy to liars and cheats. The architect chuckles
when showing rendering of competing projects, each of which
will destroy the high-priced views of the other.

An article is due out shortly on this race for real estate perfidy
which will decorate the NYT RE section, or more likely, a glossy
archie rag.

We're enjoying the beneficience, too, of luxurious if crappily
constructed homeland security.

GZ, as ever in the history of great architecture, is a diversion from
this master building pillage.
