Just a brief note : Heidegger gets much more out of Western than Eastern
mysticism. The parallels between his thought and e.g. Taoism are I
think the result of parallels between Taoism and Eckhartian mysticism.

Does anybody know the extent to which Heidegger was familiar with
'Eastern' thought? I know he attempted to teach himself Chinese
in
order to translate Lao-Tse, but this seems to have been an abortive
project. Is it possible to cross over from the West's version of
the Thinking of Being to that version or versions coimg out of the
East? Does Eastern thought have an idea comparable to the fixing
of Being as presencing or as presence?

Must run, would explicate further but the working day calls,

Erst kommt das Fressen, dann kommt die Moral.
