Mittence is (originally) Bill Richardson's translation of "Geschick"
or "das Geschickliche." See his THROUGH PHENOMENOLOGY... pp. 434 ff. Also,
see the translator's introduction to THE PRINCIPLE OF REASON (really, no
kidding!) where Geschick is a major term.
