I don?t think it?s a mistake, Henk. The German reads ?das Welten der Welt?, i.e.
?the worlding of the world?; and ?die lichtend-bergende Weite der Welt? is ?the
clearing/sheltering wide-openness of the world.? ?Die Weite? in vernacular
German is not only ?width?, but can be the ?wide open spaces?, say, of the
prairie.
H. often talks of ?die freie Weite? as a synonym for ?das freie Offene? of the
truth of being. So the worlding of the world is a wide openness in whose
clearing beings are ex-posed (to Dasein understanding them), but also sheltered
as the property of being (beings come into their own and only _are_ in being?s
shelter).
