Saturday, 18 March 2006 The Ministry of Urban Development has appointed
Mr Ramesh Ramanathan, founder of Janaagraha, as the honorary National
Technical Advisor and Chairperson of Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal
Mission (JN-NURM).


The Ministry of Urban Development has appointed Mr Ramesh Ramanathan,
founder of Janaagraha, as the honorary National Technical Advisor and
Chairperson of Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JN-NURM). A
three-member advisory group, JN-NURM has been constituted to bring the voice
of the civil society and ensure citizen participation in the mission's
objectives such as, focussed attention to integrated development of
infrastructure services in cities, civic amenities and others.

The mission covers 63 cities in India. The other two members of JN-NURM are
Prof O P Mathur of National Institute of Public Finance and Policy (NIPFP)
and Ms Sheela Patel of Society for Prevention of Area Resource Centres
