Re: Design List Muzzling

Dear Professor, Listowner, Researcher and all round busy guy, Howard,

By now it must be evident that i am merely trying to expose your
assumptions. I have received enough unplugged exchange by those who read
this list to know that i might be on the right track. We are all trying
to understand what this new tool--electronic information-- does. Not too
many know what is required in running a list. But with all due respect
sir, should your personal commitments imapct the structure of a design
forum? You keep asking for us to post moderately, isn't that like saying,
"have a conversation but don't go into it too deeply." I keep haranguing
you about this because you fail to see the politics of your position. I
would have settled for the merely technical limitations, but no, you
think i am being cynical. Is that true? My asking these questions--cynical?

It is your supression that had made this an issue. I apologize to those
who think this a belabored point, but if this isn't a design issue, i
don't know what is.

On a more constructive note: I understand that when folks check in other
than daily, there will be a bulk to contend with. I am off'net only when
i sleep, (but there too some great webb work gets done). I consider it an
extenion of my nervous system, in a giant intewoven human organism
(albeit not via Bucky Fulleresque). But it seems to me that is the way it
is going. Intelligent agents will soon sort out our mail for us, and
retrieve what we might be interested in. i have a large server account so
i mine doesn't max out even if 3000 messages are in it. Few realize what
their limits are, i recommend the petition their server for more space,
it is usually an easily accomodated request. Develop new quick scan
techniques by toggling your "N" next and "D" delete keys, if something
catches your eye, you might even read it.

Howard, we are all busy and overcommitted. I understand that part. What I
specifically hold you accountable for is your attitude. It can be
questioned, sorry if you find that irritating. Maybe you are too used to
some other system of understanding.

all the best,
