WTC Forensics

The National Institute of Science and Technology (NIST)
offers an informative page on "technologies for homeland
security," which describes a varieties of studies underway
to address the WTC collapse and what to do about similar
vulnerabilites elsewhere, information security needs, and
a host of others. It's a good overview of how architecture
relates to other fields in homeland security:

NIST has been designated to take over a comprehensive,
fully funded, study of why the WTC towers collapsed now
that the initially appointed engineering groups say that they
do not have the resources to do the job. The intention is
to set up an organization similar to the National Transportation
Safety Board to study WTC and other architectural disasters
as NTSB has been doing for transportation disasters.

Still, New York City and State and local real estate developers
are madly destroying evidence as fast as possible and
instituting planning and development for WTC in exactly the
same model as the transportation industry and its negligent
oversight agencies, using precisely the same condescending
language about maintaining public confidence by bringing
closure, promising new measures of prevention to assure
it will never happen again, rigging government subsidies
and complicit oversight to assure continuation of the same
venal practices, and erecting piddling memorials and
crying crocodile tears about the victims.

The Vietnam War Memorial is a model of exculpation, but
then Washington DC, as with most national capitals, are
filled with the wretched architectural concealments. Get ready
for the couture competition grotesquely foretold at Max Protech.
