Roman Baroque Sculpture published

Staff Reporter

Fondazzjoni Patrimonju Malti have added another exceptional book to their treasure trove of publications. Roman Baroque Sculpture in Malta which is Patrimonju's 27th, is vividly illustrated with over 100 photographs and is authored by Keith Sciberras, author and specialist in Baroque Art.

It also boasts an interesting preface by Jennifer Montagu, a leading authority on Baroque Sculpture and for many years a curator at the Warburg Institute, London.

In his foreword author Keith Sciberras explains the purpose of this study "to study the mechanics of the patronage of Roman Baroque Sculpture for the Knights of the Order of St John in Malta. It aims at quantifying the extent of this patronage within the wider context of Roman Baroque Sculpture".

On Patrimonju publications' future plans the head of Patrimonju Publications, John Manduca said: "This promises to be another exciting year with two major books planned, one on the art and architecture of medieval and early modern Malta and one on the famous artist Antoine Favray and his work as an international artist in Rome, Malta and Constantinople."

Roman Baroque Sculpture is now on sale at leading bookstores and retails at Lm15.95.
