mirroring place

one more one could also be positive or negative:

-1 -1 = -2 -1 +1 = 0 +1 +1 = 2

have been thinking about human symmetry, in
terms of an individual then also as a group of
distributed humans, looking out yet also looking
back into the group, somewhat like a mirror...

mirrors seem to also be somewhat like screens
(computers, televisions, photographs) and even
sound, some type of reflection and maybe some
inversion, such as one might hear something on
a radio show and consider things differently once
hearing another perspective previously unknown.

the diagrammatic drawing below (do not have a
vector graphics program so the geometry is odd)
attempts to convey what was assumed to be now
transcended with 'scientific objectivity' of the world
in terms of perception and understanding of some
commonality beyond the individual, discrete view.
that 'them' is 'us' in some way, shape, form, or kind.

a paradox of light and shade and shadow upon an
observer observing a human being in the mirror may
be able to see something based on their perceptions,
yet is it possible that an outward, rather than inward,
conceptual viewing may tend to separate the frames
of reference, such that in some aspect of reflection
something as basic as shape or shadow may be
shifted or disappear or appear differently due to
the mirror effects, such that a cylinder may appear
to be a cone, from a certain view, or possibly even
an observer viewing themselves with sunlight which
illuminates their view, may not be able to see shade
and shadows created outside the field of view.... it is
wondered if this could be an example of a threshold
of experience, where at this point a mirror-effect can
invert an idea such that it reveals paradoxical states.

an example of this is when a leader of country +,
say, threatens anyone who does hard to people
of country +, specifically pointing to those in the
realm of place -, yet excludes themselves from
the observation in a pre-scientific, pre-objective
observation of purely based on subject +'s view
of things. meaning, even if it is indeed a leader
of country + who is causing harm upon people
of their own country +, they are excluded from
any interaction in the mirror-effect as there is
only a view 'out there', of all the enemies of +.
the paradox being that, not that it may not be
partly in truth, yet the shade and shadow of
such absolutism and defiance of balancing
of knowledge and power, would possibly be
to severely warp the perspectives of events.

another example could be the use of a word
and its external and internal reflections, such
as with that of occupation. the book A Civilian
Occupation is hard to fathom in relation to the
profession of architecture as it exists today, in
particular the essay by Sharon Rotbard, Wall
and Tower (Homa Umigdal). there is a lot of
incredible information and some of it seems
to also be a potential to take what is used for
a particular purpose and re-appropriate it for
emergency housing in rebuilding efforts in
places such as Bam, Iran, whose housing
efforts after the recent earthquake seem to
indicate that the same buildings that fell in
are being rebuilt using the same methods.
A house that can be put up in one night and
be made permanent maybe could be used
in such emergency situations, potentially.

this is a story that, besides cutting up of the
olive trees, is quite something about 'place'
which the above essay describes in detail:

Church Officials Say Israel Delaying Visas

catholic-clergy,0,847822.story?coll=sns-ap-world-headlines
<http://www.newsday.com/news/nationworld/world/wire/sns-ap-israel-
catholic-clergy,0,847822.story?coll=sns-ap-world-headlines>

'Fortrin said Israel's treatment of Catholic clergy violates a 1993
Israeli-Vatican agreement, which allows the church to appoint and
deploy personnel to carry out religious, educational and charitable
functions in the Holy Land.' .. '"There are lots of people who have
come to the conclusion that there is a desire to reduce the number of
Christians in the country to reinforce Jewish character of state," he
said.'

what seems obvious about the role of a
'place' that is to be shared is that it wants
to be shared, or that two vantages (or, say,
sides of the mirror) may be able to co-exist
yet always having human shadows at work.
though, if one side of the mirror chooses to
only view things one way, and is looking out
instead of also looking in, seeing the self, (i.e.
"Look in the Mirror!" as a disciplinary action.)

the point being, if a place which defines the
idea of 'occupation' does have as a very real
possibility, the resolution of this in an agreed
upon scenario of sharing (as described in the
essay above as two geographies, one upon
the other, though balancing many aspects)--
that then a word such as 'occupation' could
not be equated with other situations used by
agendas averse to peaceful transformations,
or once again only seeing one side of things.

the part of it that does not leave is a need to
hope about place. in that, Iraq may be seen
as a hopeless situation given where all is in
the contradictions of aims, or anywhere world.
Yet, what if Iraq is the future of the world? and
Iraqi's can bring stability to the chaos so that
it does not collapse into a chaos-- so that a
new Saddam is not needed but that a kind of
collective agreement to shared ends brings
a change in perceptions now at extremes. an
Iraq for Iraqis, by Iraqis, for Iraqis. that would
seem to be going a direction towards peace.
if only one side of the mirror is viewed as real,
as the basis for shared truth, then 'the other'
half of the truth may be missing in a paradox
of not-reflecting upon what is actually present.
it is evident in language everywhere, leaders
who say they are righteously doing good yet
whose decisions may largely cause the thing
they so despise, from occupation to terrorism,
by knowingly abusing power to negate truths.

there must be a way to address this condition,
as it is equivalent to binary thinking and the
infamous political jiujitsu of 'illogical' flip-flops,
when this is the very logic justifying decisions
and is itself outside the frame of reference or
questioning-- "There is no paradox. Trust me."
