this is one of several drawings of one of the two
footprints. this would be the view from above street
level in the park, where a complex sloping lawn would
both descend and then ascend again even higher, which
builds into an immense boulder base which secures the
facade ruins of one of the WTC towers on the site, at
an angle so that it faces all viewers from all angles,
including site lines from the hudson river if cleared.
the columns around the site would function as spot-
lights, with a sculptural element (non religious) of
federal/civic understanding. these demarcate the four
corners of the original footprint and reference the
other footprint which retains orientation while the
ruin is at an angle. 'ruin' is not an ideal word yet
it is used here to get the point across that this is
an archaeological and historical element which is on
display, a testament to 9/11, all recognize and will
be able to comprehend its symbolism. no architects
needed to interpret it, it is a self-evident truth.
and its meaning is secured for each person in their
own mind, its value, its importance, their beliefs
of what it represents will be up to them to decide...

the upper right has a small drawing of the other
memorial footprint, which another drawing will be
better able to clarify, hopefully. the landscape
atop the (mountain) site will not be a flat plain,
it would be as if a formed by movement of the land.
the site's landscape may rise towards the freedom
tower, for instance, possibly tens of feet higher
than the lowest elevations on the opposite side.
the footprint thus would be partly above the land
and partly embedded in it, and yet horizontal, as
a footprint, while in a rising landscape which it
merges into. this is a multi-level entrance into
the park/gardens and out of the park/gardens by
way of the memorial in footprint 1, its interior
is a cubic void, two images at the following:

a drawing will show the vantage looking from
within the footprint 1 memorial space, out of
that view, towards the footprint 2, as a way
of relating the two spaces that now just exist
as identical voids in a flat corporate landscape.
