RE: fyi/Wm. R. Polk, "Thoughts on torture"

There are 2 things i want to draw attention to:

One is this: All colonizing European nations were obliged to find a
way of living with the subjected. The English held to 'distance',
the French were more tolerant, also the Dutch and the Portuguese were
quite different.

Now the new empire, the US, always has condemned colonialism as
an old practice of old Europe. One may read: they could afford without
European modelled colonialism. Why? Because they, far more efficiently,
exterminated the original peoples, like has been done in South America.

Nietzsche points to the incredible selfrighteousness in annihilating the
old civilizations of America and to sell that somehow as philantropy.
And to the wildness, the ferocity, that unites the old and the new Americans.
(Much of it can be found in his contemporary Twain too.)

Mishmashing all colours and sorts into the one big melting pot, and accuse all
who still are and want to be themselves: THAT is the real lack of discourse!
MORE is needed. And if evaded: still the consequent rise of violence cannot be
avoided.

But for more than 100 years, those pointing the finger to the missing,
are blamed. I'm not at all for a new witch hunt, but it sure is the blackest
play played ever, and it is not Hitler's and not Stalin's and not Mao's.

The night that reigns now, is a granting night* (the negative is giving):
it grants, through its sheer terror, the possibilities, and that means the
necessities, to understand the growing turbulence. That is Hoelderlin's danger,
the only place where the saving might grow too.

My 'warnings' concerned those who cannot but become uglier, because really
there is no more excuse not to uncover what has been hidden and kept hidden
for too long now. Only responding counts, excusing is just as rotten as what
is excused.

Not the public should be informed - they're totally immune against any content,
like the insects and DDT - ,those who are in name the thinkers should begin to
confess their sins, should acknowledge - to themselves please: so that the talk
of Jemeinigkeit becomes more than just symbolical. It's all real, folks.
