The National Informatics Centre will design, develop
and implement a computer aided utility mapping project
for six cities beginning with Ahmedabad. The project
will then be replicated in Bangalore, Chennai,
Hyderabad, Kolkata and Mumbai.

The central government in its National Common Minimum
Program has included National Urban Renewal as a
mission mode project in which the Planning Commission
will invest around Rs 5,500 crore in two different
projects in the Union budget 2005-06. The first
project will cover six mega cities at a cost of Rs
55-60 crore. The balance will be used for other 160
cities with more than 10,000 population, informed
sources.
Cost of CAUMP for Ahmedabad is estimated between Rs 8
crore and Rs 10 crore. The 3D map will not include
restricted areas of the city and other important
destinations like petrol pumps.
The map will be used only by AMC and ministry of
defence.
