I've heard that University of Massachusetts at Amherst is doing a
bang-up job of keeping up with the latest multi-media; they also have a
good computer science department (ranked second tier).

I think Davis is good if you want to study regional painting (I *love*
Wayne Thiebald et al., so no flames, please; in fact I wish I'd gone to
Davis instead of UCLA!).
