Design Vacancies, Philips, The Netherlands

===============================================================

Philips Corporate Design

Philips is a diversified global electronics company with its headquarters in
Eindhoven in The Netherlands. Philips sees design as one of the company's core
strengths, a key strategic factor for achieving competitive advantage in the
coming decade. Design is therefore fully integrated into the complete Philips
product creation process - from the initial policy decision right through to a
product's introduction on to the market.

Philips Corporate Design is staffed by an international team of over 250
designers and other professionals from more than 20 countries, and is the
centre of expertise within Philips for the entire range of design activities:
corporate identity, product design, graphic design, interaction design,
information design, human factors, product presentation design, and trend
analysis. In all these areas, Philips Corporate Design takes a new, enriched
approach to the design process - "High Design". High Design integrates basic,
traditional design skills with the new design-related expertise needed to
respond effectively to the world's increasing complexity.

Interaction design, screen-based graphic design, and the software engineering
disciplines needed to support these activities are areas we are rapidly
developing. Our designers work as part of a team alongside human factors
specialists, product designers, research technologists, and behavioural
psychologists to design the user interface of products ranging from electric
shavers to diagnostic equipment.

We are looking for people who have a background in product design, graphic
design, software engineering, or human factors to work in our Interaction
Design group.

interfaces. Must be able to quickly visualise ideas and concepts.
Knowledge of state-of the-art graphic design in user interfaces a must. Able to
integrate analytical and expressive skills. Can work in a development
environment. Ability to recognise opportunities presented by new technologies.
Team worker. Prototyping skills essential - especially Macromind and SuperCard,
but experience with DOS and UNIX-based prototyping tools a plus. Experience in
video and animation also a plus. Can work on short-term improvements to
existing interfaces and on generation of concepts for future products.

Knowledge about UNIX-based applications a plus.

Prototyper

Experience in interaction design and prototyping. Formal qualification in
design or computing. Must be able to develop design concepts into working
prototypes as member of the design team. Must be able to work closely with
research and development departments. Team worker. Fluency with protoyping
tools in various development environments (MAC, DOS, UNIX) is essential.

Multi-media software engineer

To liaise between design and development departments. Must have a qualification
in computer science or related discipline. Experience in computer graphics,
