In response to Brent Ryans query about rail - to - trail projects, Dr. Hardeep
Bhullar, a colleague in the school of natural resources, has done
extensive research on users of the MKT Nature and Fitness Trail and on property
owners living adjacent to the the trail. The MKT Trail is an 8 mile branch
abandoned line from Columbia, MO to the Missouri. The MKT Trail links up with
the KATY Trail State Park, the largest rail-to-trail project in the U.S. Some
of this was published in the Journal of Leisure Research in 1992 or 1993.
