"Rails to Trails" is alive and kicking in the Hoosier state, where a recent
line was dedicated as the "Cardinal Parkway" in the eastern counties of
Indiana near Muncie and Richmond. Other old lines are either under proposal
or in the development stage.
One has to wonder as to the direction of technological development that this
movement represents: first, there was the open land, later developed as rail
corridors for the passage of freight and passengers, then abandoned to weeds
and now reverting to open land for the passage of pedestrians.....
