Re: Do You Know What an Architect REALLY Does?

When a law student graduates, they are essentially ready to practice law

WRONG!

Listen, this demand for more practical knowledge being taught at the
university is just another form of abuse by the employers. They just
want more CAD-fodder, face it. It doesn't mean that they would pay
interns any better than they are now. They just want even more utility
for their money.

That is why the establishment of a "pay for the apprenticeshup" system might
produce some more benificial results. Nobody will pay someone else sothat
they will be allowed to make xeroxes for them. Well, maybe not nobody. There
probably are some fools who might do that. But, most people would take
their apprenticeshup a lot more seriously and would seek out firms/people
that they would want to work for. It would also give the the "best" firms
most apprentices. I would love it if we could turn the tables and have
the professionals seeking out the students rather than the other way
around.

Well, its just an idea. But, I do think that the whole profession, if
not the entire educational system needs a major e renovation. If the university
continues its trend towards becoming a vocational school, it won't be
just education and research that will suffer.
