You know I watched the second debate between Bush and Kerry and I remember that quote you posted. I also noted that one time Bush gets up and while looking at the audience and smiling and shaking his head slightly says, "I'm still trying to decipher that". Kerry had gone on too long and into too much depth and Bush just exploited our collective boredom. I don't remember content ever in these national debates but style and body language is always the real story imo. You have to show confidence in your body language more than any grasp of issues which most voters don't have anyway and only care about very superficially. You always hear truth that is effective and mobilizing in the tone of a person's voice more than in the substantive content of the language. This is what makes us pay attention and listen to someone seriously.It's all the conviction in the body.
