Why do you think of the Dutch polder & dyke system as green?

Maybe, I meissed the whole point. But, they seem to me to be exactly opposite
of an approach to architecture that appreciates nature and wants to
preserve it. The Rietveld house/Schroeder house is a much better example
of a modest archiecture that uses minimal materials in a constrained
manner and is a better example of green thinking in the early part of
this century.
